Dr. Terrance Scott Jr.
I am an educator, consultant, and writer committed to dismantling the barriers that keep children from historically oppressed communities from accessing a high‑quality, joyful education. My roots in Detroit shaped my passion for educational equity and community development, and that passion deepened during my time at the University of Michigan — including a transformative study abroad experience in Italy that expanded my understanding of culture, identity, and global education.
I began my career teaching in Nashville, TN, where I spent six years in the classroom before earning my Master’s in Education from Lipscomb University and later my Doctorate in Education from Trevecca Nazarene University. Those years taught me the power of culturally grounded teaching, the importance of advocacy, and the responsibility educators hold in shaping the futures of Black students and urban school communities.
When I returned home to Detroit, I stepped into school and district leadership roles that allowed me to refine my craft, support educators, and carve out a niche in leadership development and school improvement. Today, I serve all of Wayne County, MI as a School Climate, Culture, and Equity Consultant with Wayne RESA, where I work to build restorative, brave, and liberatory learning environments.
Through my firm, Legendary Education Consulting, I extend this work nationally — partnering with schools and districts across the country to advance equity initiatives, strengthen leadership, and create spaces where students and educators can thrive. My mission is simple: to help schools become places of liberation, belonging, and possibility for every child.

The Vision
Our vision is to reimagine education as a space where each child is seen as an asset, not a problem to be fixed; where learning thrives in joyful, restorative, and supportive environments; and where each stakeholder—educators, parents, and leaders—is empowered to embrace accountability with empathy. By shifting punitive mindsets to restorative approaches and transforming deficit thinking into asset-based practices, we aim to support schools in becoming places where connection drives achievement, potential is limitless, and each child has the opportunity to flourish. We envision a future where schools are not just places for learning, but communities of liberation, growth, and boundless possibility.
